There was a King,
and a courtier praised him. The King was very happy, it was wonderful praise. A second subject overheard the first and praised the King in the same voice and tone. The King was happy but not as much as the first time. Then a third citizen who had overheard the others presented himself and recited the exact same praise, also in the same tone, voice and manner. The King was less happy. After the fiftieth repetition, the King became weary and unhappy,
no longer to be impressed.
